HTA panels and boards

Our panels

Disease Prevention Panel focuses on research to promote health, prevent disease and reduce health inequalities

Interventional Procedures Panel covers interventional procedures e.g. which involve incision, puncture, entry into a body cavity or the use of ionising, electromagnetic or acoustic energy

Pharmaceuticals Panel examines research suggestions involving drugs and the prescribing of them

External Devices and Physical Therapies Panel covers a wide range of physical therapies, rehabilitative interventions and external devices.

Psychological and Community Therapies Panel focuses on interventions in the areas of mental health, learning disability, dementia and primary care.

Our boards

The boards help to guide the work of the HTA programme to ensure that it produces high quality research that addresses the needs of the NHS.

The HTA Commissioning Board meets four times a year to assess proposals received in response to advertised research topics.

The HTA Clinical Evaluation and Trials Board meets four times a year to consider research proposals submitted through the HTA Clinical Evaluation and Trials (previously Clinical Trials) researcher-led workstream.

The HTA Editorial Board oversees the process of editorial review before a final report is published in the programme's journal series, Health Technology Assessment, in order to ensure quality standards. Around 50 reports are published every year in the HTA journal series.

The Prioritisation Group agree on research priorities decided by the expert advisory panels.
