Breastfeeding should be promoted in neonatal units

Providing mothers with babies in neonatal units with extra help with breastfeeding and expression of breastmilk, is more effective and less costly than normal staff contact. These research findings are newly published by the National Institute for Health Research Health Technology Assessment (NIHR HTA) programme.

Severe acute respiratory failure in adults causes high mortality despite improvements in ventilation techniques and other treatments (eg, steroids, prone positioning, bronchoscopy, and inhaled nitric oxide). We aimed to delineate the safety, clinical efficacy, and cost-effectiveness of extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) compared with conventional ventilation support.

Research investigates use of nasal steroids to treat glue ear in primary care
